The sun shone brightly for Steve Rastall’s first triathlon at Cholmondeley castle, on Saturday 22nd June.
Thousands of spectators came out in full force to support first time and amateur triathletes
The castle starter tri is a short distance entry point and participants-many of whom were first time triathletes-enjoyed a 200m open water swim, 14km bike and 2km run.
Craig Williams was the quickest man to cross the finishing line with a time of 50:51, following a strong swim taking 4:37.
After a shaky swim taking 6:44, Steve made great time on the bike ride, being the third fastest and this allowed him to go from 26th to finish 7th overall, achieving 3rd in his class.
Steve raised £600 for the British Heart Foundation, in memory of his mum Moira, who died in 2018.
Reflecting on the event, Steve said, “It was a great event and helping the British Heart Foundation gave it a personal focus for me. This was my first Tri, but definitely not my last.”
