Why you need more than just the capabilities of Azure portal to manage Azure

Azure Portal is a powerful web interface that provides visibility of and the ability to manage Azure resources. With Azure Portal, you can deploy, manage, and monitor your applications and services on the Azure platform. However, as powerful as Azure Portal is, it may not always be enough to manage all aspects of Azure.

In this blog post, we will discuss why you need more than just the capabilities of Azure Portal to manage Azure.

Limited Customisation Options

Azure Portal offers limited customization options, which may not be enough to meet your specific business requirements. For example, if you need to automate specific tasks or processes, you may need to use Azure CLI or Azure PowerShell, which are not available in Azure Portal. While Azure Portal offers some customization options, it may not be enough to fully meet your needs.

It is also difficult to cut through the 'noise' and find the information you need when there is a problem. CloudOps provides single pane of glass dashboards highlighting errors and exceptions

Complex Deployments (Hybrid-cloud / Multi-cloud)

Azure Portal is an excellent tool for deploying and managing individual resources, but it may not be suitable for more complex deployments. If you are working with hybrid environments where not all the resources are deployed in Azure or are deployed across multiple regions then it can be difficult to manage everything effectively with only Azure portal.

Lack of Automation

While Azure Portal offers some automation capabilities, it may not be enough to fully automate your day to day cloud management processes. Or it may have the capability but each additional component can have a cost to it that quickly starts to add up.

For another way to manage your Azure infrastructure with cloud management software, then consider CloudOps which gives you a full cloud management platform. It does this by Rolling up the power of market-leading open source tools into one portal and giving you the capability to automate patching, backup, antivirus, monitoring and cost analysis.

Insufficient Monitoring

Azure Portal offers a range of monitoring capabilities, but it may not be enough to fully monitor and manage your Azure resources. You may need to use additional tools either inside or outside the Azure environment.

The problem with this is that each of these tools you turn on or purchase has a learning curve and has to be maintained. CloudOps gives you a turn-key cloud monitoring solution driven by Zabbix a leading open-source monitoring tool. To see all the tools that are under the hood of CloudOps find out more here.

Where does this leave you?

Azure Portal is a powerful tool for managing Azure resources, but it may not be enough to meet all your business requirements. To manage Azure effectively, you may need to use additional tools and services.

By using third-party cloud management tools in conjunction with Azure Portal, you can streamline your cloud management processes, automate tasks, monitor resources more effectively and reduce your cost.
