If your team is using Kubernetes on AWS or Azure then you need it monitoring. You need to have visibility of problems at both the cluster and node level, without this,...
What is Kubernetes and why have we added Kubernetes monitoring to CloudOps?
Containerisation as a development model has been growing as an approach for a few years. If you work as a developer or a system architect then you have almost certainly heard of Kubernetes, a powerful container platform.
Why have we prioritised adding it to our CloudOps cloud management platform?
Originally created by Google, Kubernetes is an open source container orchestration system that has now taken on a life of its own.
It lets developers manage and schedule containers for deployment, and it has swiftly gained popularity. It is used by many development teams to handle container deployments seamlessly as part of their DevOps pipeline.
New: Kubernetes monitoring features in CloudOps
Many of our customers are already using Kubernetes as part of their applications. CloudOps could monitor individual nodes (Virtual machines) but we have now added monitoring for the cluster.
This is important because if the node has configuration problems or becomes compromised then you need to know as soon as possible. Otherwise, you can be in a situation where the problem only becomes apparent when a new node is needed or when the service degrades sufficiently to impact users.
Kubernetes monitoring in CloudOps includes features such as:
- Cost analysis of Kubernetes deployments
- Monitor CPU and memory utilization of Kubernetes pods
- Track Kubernetes health both live and historic
- Direct API connection for both Kubernetes as a service or native Kubernetes
Kubernetes monitoring is ideal for our customers
Our customers value Kubernetes monitoring as it allows their teams to get visibility of issues earlier and resolve them before they impact their users.
Adding the capability to monitor the Kubernetes cluster as well as the nodes has been a priority for a while here at IG, but we wanted to add both AWS and Azure at the same time. You can read more about working with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes services (EKS) here.
This is now in place, so to find out more about these features please read the full article here.
